Daily Bulletin 5/13

Track The Leicester track team competed at the Central MA district championship meet this weekend. Both Peyton K.and Abby B. placed 14th and 18th place in the meet. They competed in a field that consisted of almost all high school runners.


AV Club There will be NO A/V club tomorrow.

Early Release Reminder that there will be an early release day for students on Friday, May 10th. Students will be dismissed at 10:55am.


 

Track The Leicester girls track team ran well on Wednesday against Uxbridge despite taking the loss. Peyton Knott led the middle school girls in scoring with a first place finish in the mile to net 5 points for the team. Ayva Connor followed with 4 points thanks to a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter and a 3rd place finish in the mile. Hannah Collett followed with a 2nd place finish in the 200 meter. Abby Bernabei took 3rd place in both the 2 mile and 800 meter. For the boys, Cole Delage performed well with a season best 5:56 in the Mile, while Owen Collette ran his best 800 meter with a time of 2:38

Yearbook Yearbooks will be delivered in June! If you haven’t already ordered one, you may still do so on our school website. There are not many left, so pre-order your 2019 LMS Yearbook ASAP! Direct any questions to Ms. Ferdella.


 

Newspaper There will be no Newspaper this week. Our next meeting will be next Wednesday, May 14.


 

Phys. Ed Phys Ed will be outside today. Please wear a jacket or sweatshirt if needed.

Art Club Art Club students that are planning on attending the Art Club field trip need to have permission slips returned by this Friday, May 10th.


 

MCAS Grade 8 Science MCAS will take place tomorrow and Wednesday. Please make every effort to be in school and be on time.

Star Wars Day We’re celebrating Star Wars Day early tomorrow, May 3rd. Wear your best Star Wars gear and stop by the library for a surprise!

Earth Day Cleanup Leicester’s Earth Day Cleanup is this Sunday, May 5th. Meet at the Town Common 9am to noon. Gloves and bags will be provided, but if you have your own gloves please bring them. Enjoy a slice of pizza from NorthEast afterwards! Come out on Sunday and help us to clean up our town.


 

Washington D.C. All DC paperwork is due Wednesday, May 1st. Please hand in your completed forms to Mr. Socha. All medications for DC are due in the office by May 1st. Your parents must bring in your clearly labeled medications in their original containers and bring them to Mrs. Ledbetter. A mandatory DC parent meeting will be held Wednesday night, May 1st at 7pm. This meeting is for parents only and your parents must attend in order for you to go on this trip.


 

After School Permission Slips Students, please be sure to turn in your after school permission slips to your homeroom teacher. Teachers please collect the slips and send them down in your envelopes.


 

Holocaust Class Students who wrote an essay for this year’s Holocaust class should check in with Mr. Socha to see if you’ve been accepted into the class. Class will meet on Fridays beginning this Friday, May 3 and held in Mrs. Freeman’s room beginning at 2:30pm. Please arrange for a ride home at 3:30pm.


 

Peer Leadership Peer Leaders will have a meeting today during lunch recess.


 

Baseball The boys baseball team jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hold on against Northbridge. We will look to bounce back in our next game on Thursday at home against Southbridge.


 

Sewing Workshop If you are staying for the Sewing workshop after school today you must bring your after school slips to Mrs. Minton during the school day.


 

Nature's Classroom We have several items left over from Nature’s Classroom. If you are missing anything, please stop by during lunch and look through the pile.


 

Cell Phone Rules Reminder to students. Your cell phones cannot be left in your locker. They must be off in the pocket holders in the classrooms. Any phones not in a holder or not turned off, will be sent down to the office and a parent will have to come and pick it up.


 

Clothing Drive Reminder that today is the Eller’s lunch for the winning homeroom of the clothing drive.

Music Congratulations to Jake, Cole, and Jill for representing Leicester Middle School in the central district band over the weekend. They participated in 12 hours of extra rehearsal recently and performed in a concert on Saturday, exhibiting dedication, professionalism, maturity, and exceptional musicianship.


 

Sewing Workshop Tomorrow is the first day of a new Sewing Workshop in the library. Participants will learn how to sew their own drawstring bag. Beginners are welcome to join! Please bring in an afterschool slip to Mrs. Minton today or tomorrow.

Tarentino 5K Leicester Middle School had a great turnout yesterday at the Tarantino 5K. Congratulations to Peyton K.and Abby B. for placing 2nd and 3rd in the girls 18 and under age group. Jason F. and Owen C. also ran well, finishing 1st and 3rd in the boys 18 and under age group.


 

Baseball On Thursday, the boys baseball team won 18-0. Adam S. and Caden B. combined to pitch 3 scoreless innings of no-hit ball. Matt F. contributed an RBI.

Ukulele Club There will be no ukulele club this week.


 

Communiteen CommuniTeen will not meet this week. We will resume meetings next Wednesday.


 

Sewing Workshop A new sewing workshop will be starting next Tuesday after school in the library. The workshop will meet for three Tuesdays, and participants will learn how to make their own bags using the sewing machine. Beginners are welcome but space is limited to five students. Sign up in the library!


 

Movie Making Are you interested in being an extra in the school movie? We are looking for a handful of extras to stay after school tomorrow until 4pm. Please let Mrs. Minton know if you can make it.


 

Art Club Art Club members will be briefly meeting in the Art Room directly after announcements


 

Tarentino 5K The Tarentino Strong 5k is this Sunday. Are you interested in holding up a sign to thank and encourage the runners? If so, please see Mrs. Leveillee.

Newspaper Club The Newspaper Club is hosting a short story contest starting today and ending May 1st. Entries must be 500 to 1000 words. Any genre and topic is acceptable, as long as it is school appropriate. Inappropriate entries will be automatically disqualified. The winner will be published in the Hillside Herald along with the Spencer New Leader. Please send entries or any questions via email to Ms. Ferdella.


 

Drama Club The Drama Club cast and crew party will be held today in the cafeteria immediately after school. Students must be picked up by 3:30. See Mrs. Stapel with any questions.


 

Peer Leadership There will be a peer leadership meeting for 8th graders during 8th grade lunch, and 7th graders during 7th grade lunch.


 

Baseball Middle school baseball practice is cancelled for today.


 

NJHS Today’s NJHS meeting has been canceled. The next meeting will be announced on Google Classroom.

There will be a two boxes in front of the main office for one week. The homeroom that collects the most clothes gets a Eller’s lunch during their lunch block.
