Attendance & Behavior Initiative 11/1 - Reminder to students that today we start our Attendance Initiative and our Behavior Initiative. The grade with the highest attendance rate for the month of November and December will earn extra Olympic Foolery points. 11/4 - Reminder to homeroom teachers, please show the attendance video that was emailed out to you last week when announcements are over.


 

After School Permission Slips Important reminder to students: In order to stay after tomorrow you MUST have a signed permission slip. You can get one from your teacher or the office. If you do not have a slip you will not be allowed to stay.


 

Running Club The Running Club held the 1st Wolverine Invitational on Saturday. Jason F. and Owen C. took 1st and 2nd place overall in the boys race. Both beat the top AMSA runner by over a minute. Michael H. finished 3rd for Leicester. Matthew R. also ran well, taking almost a minute off his time. Lilith F. was Leicester’s top girl and Isabel V. ran her best race of the season. There was also a community race after the meet. Congratulations to Dylan D. and Peyton K. for taking the top boys and girls spots. Cooper W. took 3rd place. Even Mrs. Stapel and Mrs. Johnson joined the run and took 9th and 11th place overall.

Picture Retake Day-November 1st Friday is picture retake day. If you are having your picture retaken, please be sure to bring in your envelope with the $3.00 fee. If you were absent on picture day, please be sure to be ready to have your picture taken on Friday morning.

Student Expectations There should be no candy in school today. If you have candy, it must be kept in your locker and brought home at the end of the day. All food must remain in the cafeteria, if any food is brought outside of the cafeteria, there will be consequences. Students, hallway behavior must improve. You must walk on the right side of the hallway and keep your hands to yourselves. There should be no pushing, shoving or yelling. Students you should be going to straight from one class to another and not stopping at your locker between every class.


 

Scholastic Book Fair The Scholastic Book Fair starts tomorrow and runs until next Thursday. Shop the Fair to find great new books and to support your library and the makerspace. Don’t forget to bring in your loose change to donate to “All for Books”, where 100% of the proceeds go toward new books in our library!

Refreshments will also be available for purchase and prizes for the best costumes will be awarded. Central Massachusetts Middle School Invitational LMS hosted the 3rd Central Massachusetts Middle School Invitational yesterday. There were 4 races and 435 runners at the meet. Both J. and Owen C. led the Wolverines with 1st and 4th place finishes in a field of 128 runners. Mike H., Justin C., and Tyler W. also finished as part of leicester’s top 5 runners. The Leicester girls did well. Lilith F. finished with her best time of the season as the 1st of Leicester’s runners. Ainsley Whittemore, Madelyn S., Serenity P., and Isabel V. all finished as part of Leicester’s top 5 runners. Each one took over a minute off of their times since their last meet.

JV Soccer Congratulations to our JV boys soccer team for a 2-1 win over Auburn. Mason G. scored with a header in the first half and followed it up with a brilliant penalty kick in the second half. Fantastic effort all around.

JV Soccer The boys JV Soccer Team won their 1st game of the season yesterday 4-3 against rival David Prouty. Scoring for the Wolverines was Mason G., Will P. and Michael C. with 2 goals. Congratulations on a hard fought win.

Cross Country The boys cross country team placed 6th at the Wachusett Invitational over the weekend. They moved up from 11th last year. Jason F. led the team with a 17th overall finish. Owen C. was 2nd for the Wolverines.

Fifth graders Justin C.and Matt R.were the first two Leicester finishers. Sixth grader Ben R. rounded out the top 3 Wolverines. Strong runs were also posted by Tyler W., Josh M., Chris M., Tyler S., and Landon B.

National Bullying Day
 Monday October 7th is National Bullying Day. To promote no bullying at Leicester Middle School, we are asking everyone to Wear Blue. There will be a special raffle during lunches for anyone who is wearing Blue.

Yearbook Seventh and eighth graders interested in joining the yearbook staff should pick up an application outside of room 4. Please read the application carefully and follow the instructions. If you took a form last Friday, please pick up an updated one! The Google code has been fixed.

National Bullying Day Monday October 7th is National Bullying Day. To promote no bullying at Leicester Middle School, we are asking everyone to Wear Blue. There will be a special raffle during lunches for anyone who is wearing Blue.


 

Student Information All students need to put their ID cards in the slot on the front of the Chromebook. These ID’s must remain face up in the Chromebook case at all times. Failure to do so will result in consequences. Also, a reminder to students that we need to be more aware of closing our lockers and picking up papers that fall on the ground.


 

Newspaper The first newspaper meeting is being held today. Students planning to attend should have a signed note from their parent or guardian and a ride home at 3:30pm. The meeting will be held in room 4.

Cross Country Both the girls and the boys cross country team beat both North Brookfield and David Prouty yesterday. Jason F outsprinted a North Brookfield runner to win his second race in a row. Owen C took the 4th overall spot with a time of 18:25. Lilith F ran well for the girls, finishing in the top 10 overall.

Track The Leicester track team competed at the Central MA district championship meet this weekend. Both Peyton K.and Abby B. placed 14th and 18th place in the meet. They competed in a field that consisted of almost all high school runners.

Track The Leicester girls track team ran well on Wednesday against Uxbridge despite taking the loss. Peyton Knott led the middle school girls in scoring with a first place finish in the mile to net 5 points for the team. Ayva Connor followed with 4 points thanks to a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter and a 3rd place finish in the mile. Hannah Collett followed with a 2nd place finish in the 200 meter. Abby Bernabei took 3rd place in both the 2 mile and 800 meter. For the boys, Cole Delage performed well with a season best 5:56 in the Mile, while Owen Collette ran his best 800 meter with a time of 2:38

This meeting is for parents only and your parents must attend in order for you to go on this trip.

Tarentino 5K Leicester Middle School had a great turnout yesterday at the Tarantino 5K. Congratulations to Peyton K.and Abby B. for placing 2nd and 3rd in the girls 18 and under age group. Jason F. and Owen C. also ran well, finishing 1st and 3rd in the boys 18 and under age group.


 

Baseball On Thursday, the boys baseball team won 18-0. Adam S. and Caden B. combined to pitch 3 scoreless innings of no-hit ball. Matt F. contributed an RBI.

Sewing Workshop A new sewing workshop will be starting next Tuesday after school in the library. The workshop will meet for three Tuesdays, and participants will learn how to make their own bags using the sewing machine. Beginners are welcome but space is limited to five students. Sign up in the library!


 

Movie Making Are you interested in being an extra in the school movie? We are looking for a handful of extras to stay after school tomorrow until 4pm. Please let Mrs. Minton know if you can make it.

Any genre and topic is acceptable, as long as it is school appropriate. Inappropriate entries will be automatically disqualified. Drama Club The Drama Club cast and crew party will be held today in the cafeteria immediately after school. Students must be picked up by 3:30. See Mrs. Stapel with any questions.
