To provide students with opportunities to thrive in music by developing positive habits, leadership skills, work ethic, community, and confidence.
Values
The Leicester Music Program:
- Performs musical literature which:
- Is written by diverse composers
- Encourages discussion about character, meaning, significance, historical figures, events, etc.
- Encourages listening and acting with respect
- Pushes students to grow in empathy and understanding through listening and performance
- Challenges students through responsibility and accountability
- Encourages leadership inside and outside of musical ensembles
- Performs at local and competitive levels
- Forms connections between student-musicians and the Leicester community
